On Friday, March 11, 2011, the world was glued to their computer/tv screens as we watched the country of Japan experience the destruction and devastation from a magnitude 8.9 earthquake and the subsequent tsunami that ravaged the coastline cities.

Many of us have family and friends in Japan, or know someone who does. At this time, Freelance Clothing offers our prayers and support to the people of this nation.

Here are a few ways we all can help during this time:

1. Pray.
In times of crisis, many times our instincts are to offer our prayers up for those who are in need, with the faith that they will be comforted, helped and provided for during their times of need. Prayer truly accomplishes much more than you can understand, especially for those on the receiving end of our faith!

2. Donate $10 to the Cause by Text Message.
Here’s an easy way to donate $10 to the American Red Cross / Hawaii Red Cross to help the needy in Japan. Text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to the Japan earthquake and Pacific tsunami relief efforts.

3. Make an Online Donation to the Red Cross.
CLICK HERE to donate online at the American Red Cross website towards the help being sent to the Japanese Tsunami/Earthquake victims.

And for those of you who are trying to get in touch with family members/friends in Japan, here are a few websites we’ve found that are trying to provide avenues of communication:

Family Links: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is managing a website in cooperation with the Japanese Red Cross and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world. The purpose of this Family Links page is to help restore contact between separated family members. Go to www.ICRC.org/familylinks to register or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) for help registering
Disaster Message Board: If you have mobile phone number of family member in Japan, can use these svcs to check whether they registered message on this svc. Svcs avail in English & Japanese. DoCoMo: http://dengon.docomo.ne.jp/Einoticelist.cgi?es=0 // SoftBanK: http://dengon.softbank.ne.jp/pc-e1.jsp // Willcom: http://dengon.willcom-inc.com/dengon/MessageSearch.do;jsessionid=E1E3A8789C6AC141489E8E6AD5F20825.ap1 // When you enter mobile ph # for search on webpage, remove country code 00…81 and… add 0 at the beginning.

All of these links/information are from sources we have found online, many from the American & Hawaii Red Cross sites. If any of this information is incorrect, please let us know and we will make the necessary changes. Or, if you have any additional suggestions, please let us know and we will include those as well.
